Description/Job Summary

Central Jersey Blood Center (CJBC) is looking for a Driver Assistant in the Hospital Services Department

Central Jersey Blood Center is a community-based, non-profit blood collection and distribution organization that has been serving NJ residents for over 50 years. Our mission is to save lives by providing safe, high-quality blood products and services to patients in need. With three convenient blood donor centers in Monmouth and Ocean counties, our organization has grown into one of the premier blood centers of NJ.

The primary purpose of the Driver Assistant is to assist the product coordinator in both the continuous supply of blood to hospitals and delivery of collected units from blood drives to CJBC.

This is a benefited full time position that includes the hourly rate of pay and benefits.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Transport blood and blood products to and from hospitals and other locations
  • Transport blood from mobile/designated sites to laboratory for component production
  • Accept deliveries of all blood center supplies and stock appropriate supply for laboratory needs
  • Inform appropriate person(s) regarding maintenance of vehicles used
  • Maintain quarterly QC of, but not limited to, lab equipment, freezers and refrigerators
  • Maintain pertinent laboratory equipment and quality control of transport blood containers and coolers.
  • Handle and collect medical and other potentially biohazards wastes
  • Perform any other duties and functions as assigned by the Technical Director, Laboratory Manager and Product Coordinator                    
     

Required Experience

Current State of New Jersey driver’s license in good standing
